FLOOD RELIEF 2015 @ Different areas....

Report on flood relief work by DEC

Our working area is Northern Chennai and Tiruvallur District. Northern Chennai has Bukingham canal and lower lying areas. Tiruvallur has more number of lakes and reservoirs. When they get their level raised and over flow, the low lying areas get affected. Especially, the coovam canal linking is in our Thiruvottiyur. The Puzhal reservoir is much closed to Thiruvottiyur. As these over flows because of heavy rain, the areas like Kargil nagar, Rajaij Nagar, Sadayan kuppam, Balakrishna nagar, Charles Nagar, Villages in Minjur & Manali are totally get sink. There are about more than more than 500 to 1000 families in each area. Especially our children families are residing in this area.  These places are affordable for minimum cost and so it is very comfortable for low economic people.  We found about 30 of our school children are in the affected area. We supported as much as possible with the help extended by ITC and some local wishers. We provided biscuits, noodles, new & old clothes, provisions and house hold materials. And we provided with the support of local donors livelihood articles like 2 stitching machines and iron box.
