KHELO INDIA District Sports Meet – 2018

The District sports events for Mentally Retarded children is held on 06.03.2018 at  Thiruvallur Collectorate Grounds (DSO). Mr. Jayachandran, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, Thiruvallur, Mr. Paul Devasagayam, Director for Special Olympics TamilNadu, and Mr. Arumugam, Coordinator for Special Olympics Chennai received the Marchpast by the participants. Both Anbalaya Special School, Thiruvottiur  &  Anbalaya Rural Special School Thiruvallur  took part in the Events. DEC Centre hold runners up in throw up. Female team won in football team event.

Tiruvellur centre received winners shield in Bocce. Our students lead in all the events, like 50 mts running , 25 mts Running, 100 Metres Running, Standing Long Jump  and Short put .



On the eve of Women’s Day, a special General Medical Camp for women was conducted at Anbalaya Special School, Thiruvottriyur on 03.03.2018. Blood Sugar Test, Eye screening and general check-up for women was done. This camp was organised jointly with HelpAge India and Rajan Eye Care. The camp started by 9 am and went on till 2 pm.

About 250 Women ( 16 to 65 yrs)  participated in the camp. Eye screening was done for everyone and free spectacles were given to persons with eye disorders. Free medicines were also distributed to them. A special awareness show was held with audio/visuals explaining the cause of sugar disorders, keeping sugar levels under control and the recommended diet. The field workers from Loyola College Mr Samy & Mr Abraham organised this as part of their field work. 




Dec- proudly celebrated 22 nd annual day on 24.2.2018, at ennore employers welfare association at thiruvottiur. The special guest mr. Gunasegar , miss. Glory and dr. C.c.sagy were the guest  to encourage the children by their presence and speech. Children enacted variety programme like classical dance, drama, joker dance, and remarkable magic show. Everyone appreciated the children development and the trainers   for their efforts.  The annual day report presentation proved the 22 years of service  and achievement of dec. The secretary mr. Prabhakaran thanked all the supporters and the members.



69th republic day celebrated at anbalaya rural special school  training centre on 26th jan 2018. Mr. Dhasaradhan was the special guest on the day and hoisted our national flag. Children showed their patriotism performing dance and the activities.  Sweets were shared among the children including staffs. The day was entertaining and full of fun. Thanks to our guest mr. Dhasaradhan.



We had a memorable pongal celebration on 12th jan’2018 in our centre at dec-anbalaya. The programme was coordinated by field work students from msw dept loyola college. The trainees gave a brief about harvest day. They engaged the students with entertainment games. Our children really enjoyed the day with games.  The pongal worship and sharing of sweet pongal added colours to the function. Everyone enjoyed the celebration.


Tamil festivel pongal was celabrated at anbalaya rural special school on 11th jan 2018 with the internship students from loyala college.  In the occasion they organised various traditional games like breaking pot, biting bread, mucial chair, and other team games.


Four days free medical camp for the pwd, coordinated by dec – anbalaya @ thiruvottiyur from 9.1.2018 to 12.1.2018 .the programme is held with   the support district differently abled office, thiruvallur and co-sponsored by cpcl, and alimco, banglore.  More than 400 beneficiaries utilize the camp and benefited by getting their id cards, aids & appliances and other govt., provisions. The orthopedician, the ENT surgeon and the audiologist   helped in diagnosis the patients. The screening camp also helped the young children in this area who are attending mainstream but so far not included in the registration.  Medical specialists observed and identified the people with disabilities.


On 3rd January 2018, 60 students of St Marys Matriculation Higher Secondary School from Old washermenpet has visited our centre. The objective of the visit is to get exposure to the special children and to interact with them. Our students welcomed the St Marys Students and had good time in exposing their talents. They all had lunch with the children. This opportunity creates a recognition and understanding for the disabled children.



On 16th dec 2017 we celebrated our arss christmas programme. Mr. Joseph from port trust and team came and celebrated variety programme like puppet show, skit & dance. Then fr. Pradeep, parish priest from manavala nagar, st. Rosary madha church came shared his joy, blessed the children and cut cake with santa.  Children also performed dance and skit about the christmas occasion. Mr. Joseph sponsored the programme and made it successful. We thank him and his team.


Christmas day was celebrated in a grand style at our centre dec – anbalaya.  We had invited rev. Fr. J. Antony raj, st. Paul’s church, as the chief guest at the programme, he cut the cake with santa and distributed among the students & parents. He delivered the christmas message and explained the significance of christmas. Mainly he conveyed his greetings for christmas to everyone. Followed by a programme in which our children performed dance, skit & action songs. On the day the centre was decorated colourfully and the gifts were distributed to the students & teachers.
